She finally asks and he just sighs. He reaches into his bag and pulls out a folded piece of paper with a drawing of a human on it. He spent more time on this one than the one he showed BB.]
I thought someone was going to ask, so. [He hands the drawing to her.] This is the one me and Strohl fought that first time.
On Earth, and there's apparently a lot of Earths in different universes where this is true, the dominant species' scientific name is homo sapien, otherwise known as humans. There's different races, people with different eye and skin colors, and people have fought about that a lot throughout history, but they're still humans.
There's other races and beings, too, but most of mankind has kind of lost the ability to perceive them. Like me, I'm part human, part youkai. I think it translates here as something like... demon, spirit, monster, supernatural being -- that kind of thing.
[ She continues to look at the picture, taking another bite of her sweet roll and chewing thoughtfully. No wonder Fidelio makes faces when she says "human". She just made a face herself. She's making it again. ]
That's definitely not what I mean when I say "human".
[Homo sapien.... not so unlike the names of the humans he's run into. Hm.]
I'm sure Basilio has told you about our tribes. [He rubs his chin thoughtfully. Part youkai? He's never heard of that, but...] Everyone in my world has magic to some extent.
[He also bites his sweet roll. He can't help but giggle at her face with a quiet snort. But his expression falls under a moment.]
There's some smaller ones too, but the big ones make the most impression. Not a lot of people can kill a human.
