[ It's a good fifteenish minutes later than Nao rounds the Crystal and waves at Will. Did she stop and grab a couple of snacks for them? She stopped and grabbed a couple of snacks for them, but she has one free hand to wave. ]
Will, hey! [ As though she isn't about to ask him about serious matters. ]
[ She hands over the large sweet roll she nabbed for him at one of the stalls under way. They've definitely got a glaze. Maybe a bright tasting filling? At least it comes with a good quality paper by which to hold it. ]
Try it!
[ She's already taken a bite out of hers by the looks of things. She was excited, okay? ]
[He's fond of that. He can brush off the hostility, but... he gets tired.
She finally asks and he just sighs. He reaches into his bag and pulls out a folded piece of paper with a drawing of a human on it. He spent more time on this one than the one he showed BB.]
I thought someone was going to ask, so. [He hands the drawing to her.] This is the one me and Strohl fought that first time.
On Earth, and there's apparently a lot of Earths in different universes where this is true, the dominant species' scientific name is homo sapien, otherwise known as humans. There's different races, people with different eye and skin colors, and people have fought about that a lot throughout history, but they're still humans.
There's other races and beings, too, but most of mankind has kind of lost the ability to perceive them. Like me, I'm part human, part youkai. I think it translates here as something like... demon, spirit, monster, supernatural being -- that kind of thing.
[ She continues to look at the picture, taking another bite of her sweet roll and chewing thoughtfully. No wonder Fidelio makes faces when she says "human". She just made a face herself. She's making it again. ]
That's definitely not what I mean when I say "human".
[Homo sapien.... not so unlike the names of the humans he's run into. Hm.]
I'm sure Basilio has told you about our tribes. [He rubs his chin thoughtfully. Part youkai? He's never heard of that, but...] Everyone in my world has magic to some extent.
[He also bites his sweet roll. He can't help but giggle at her face with a quiet snort. But his expression falls under a moment.]
There's some smaller ones too, but the big ones make the most impression. Not a lot of people can kill a human.
Words with the same root usually have a connection. Don't think too hard about it, yeah?
[ Let her do the thinking. She does way more of it than any one person has a right or should and she's usually pretty good at it. In cases surrounding his world, she just might have to ask a few questions, but for now, she pushes past that. ]
So you and Strohl defeated this thing?
[ She points at the paper instead of tapping it with a finger. She has another question, but she holds it for the moment. ]
[ That sounds... kind of romantic actually. Tapping into a special kind of magic to defeat something so much more powerful than them and save Strohl's life... ]

The new place. I'll be by the crystal.

He does brighten up at the sight of snacks.]
Hey! [He offers to take some, to free up her hands.] You know this could've waited until later.

I've got to come here more often.
[He's not gonna bring up the stuff she was asking about until she does.]

[ She takes another bite of her sweet roll. She at least has the decency to conceal her still chewing mouth with a hand. ]
So, what's a human? Let's start there.

I have no idea why everyone here calls elda "human". It's weird.

It's kinda weird, right? That it's the same word. I mean, what are the odds of that?
no subject
Maybe it's just a weird coincidence. Like similar root words, uh... like how elda sounds like "elder". But that doesn't relate at all.

Anyway.]
Technically just me. It's kind of a long story, but I had to tap into a special kind of magic. Strohl would've died otherwise.
no subject
You two must be pretty close.

[Strohl was nice to him, respected him for no reason when so many others didn't bother. Will's not quick to forget that kind of thing.]
I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad that he's stuck here too.
no subject
Well, how do you feel?
no subject
Well, if things won't change at home from us being here, I guess it's not so bad. It's nice to see my friends again.
I LOST THIS TAG SOMEHOW??
Don't forget he made some kind of wish to wind up here in the first place. I wonder what it was?
